چکیده

Nonstationary signals appear often in real-life applications and many of them can be modeled as polynomial phase signals (PPS). High-order ambiguity function (HAF) was rst introduced to estimate the parameters of a single component PPS. But due to its high nonlinearity, HAF has not been widely used for multi-component PPS which appear for example, in Doppler radar applications when multiple targets are tracked simultaneously. We present a theory in this paper that HAF is virtually additive for multi-component PPS and illustrate our ndings with numerical simulations.

Product high-order ambiguity function for multicomponent polynomial-phase signal modeling

Parameter estimation and performance analysis issues are studied for multicomponent polynomial-phase signals (PPS’s) embedded in white Gaussian noise. Identifiability issues arising with existing approaches are described first when dealing with multicomponent PPS having the same highest order phase coefficients. This situation is encountered in applications such as synthetic aperture radar imag...

Statistical Analysis of the Product High-Order Ambiguity Function

The high-order ambiguity function (HAF) was introduced for the estimation of polynomial-phase signals (PPS) embedded in noise. Since the HAF is a nonlinear operator, it suffers from noise-masking effects and from the appearance of undesired cross terms and, possibly, spurious harmonics in the presence of multicomponent (mc) signals. The product HAF (PHAF) was then proposed as a way to improve t...

Overview of Signal Instantaneous Frequency Estimation Methods

This paper gives an overview of existing instantaneous frequency (IF) estimation methods divided into several major categories. One of the first IF estimation approaches was based on the spectrogram, the resolution of which is highly window size dependant. In order to improve the IF estimation accuracy, the iterative method was proposed, such that each iteration gives more accurate estimation o...

A parametric method for non-stationary interference suppression in direct sequence spread-spectrum systems

The problem of non-stationary interference suppression in direct sequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) systems is considered. The phase of interference is approximated by a polynomial within the considered interval. According to the local polynomial Fourier transform (LPFT) principle, the received signal is dechirped by using the obtained phase approximation and the interference is, in turn, suppres...

Estimating Wideband Polynomial Phase Signals in Sensor Arrays Using the Extended Kalman Filter

In the present paper, we consider the problem of parameter estimation of wideband polynomial phase signals (PPS) impinging on a uniform linear array antenna. The parameters of interest are the polynomial phase coefficients and the direction of arrival of the signal. The principle of estimation is based on the introduction of an exact but unfortunately nonlinear state space modelization, of the ...
